Gulliver, as said in my article above, I don't agree with the public statements made by top chinese officials(such as Han Zheng) that the national security law is to target a tiny minority of insurgents in HK. Bearing in mind the virtually incessant protests/riots that has been going on for one whole year, the level of violence involved do seem to have somewhat reduced recently, but their theme of HK Independence is getting ever more clear. Equally worrying is the number of participants, the new pattern is de-centralized or distributive, in their terms “be water, 遍地開花”. Moreover, the rioters/protestors r getting younger & younger. If I have not made it clear enough in the article, let me reiterate that I think the only true solution to make our future less grim, is for the Five Eyes plus Taiwan to really welcome the emigration of millions of dissidents into their fold. But, Bojo, Pompeo and English Tsai r paying purely lip service. The problem facing us is not to deal with a tiny minority, but a menacing 57% of the population, including well over 70% of the younger generations. Sorry to say, I am not at all optimistic in the future of my beloved hometown.
