Being playful and with your passion to live the most responsible way of life. 玩樂與熱情~最負責任的生活方式|Sadhguru 萨古鲁
Being liberating or accumulating karma?
Being playful has always been understood as irresponsibility. Yes? Right from your childhood, probably to when you’re raising your children yourself, being playful just being thought of as being irresponsible. The most responsible way to live your life is to be playful. It’s absolutely irresponsible to carry a long face and walk around on this planet. Isn’t it irresponsible to walk around with misery? Yes. It’s the most irresponsible thing you can do. Therefore, being playful is not irresponsible. Instead, being playful is being very responsible and responsive to life, only when you’re playful, then you can do that, and on the contrary, when you are serious the world doesn’t exist for you. And you and your nonsense, yes? When you are serious, it’s just you and your nonsense, the world doesn’t exist for you, because only when you are playful, then you can pay attention to everything so that you can truly do everything in the world. Only if you’re playful, otherwise, you cannot. Life is just a burden, it only kills you. So playfulness is not a philosophy that you have to develop, telling yourself.” I‘m going to be playful. I’m going to be playful”. No. The science now is telling you that the whole existence is just a dance of energy. It looks like the forces that create this existence are always playful. It is always in our culture that creations have been described as God’s play, therefore, some thinking people thought that what that fool God is to play within my life,, and that’s why all this misery? The forces of the creation are constantly at play, if they stop playing, you’re finished. Yes? All the basic forces in this body itself, they must play in full vigor ultimately. Only then, everything is nice. Therefore, If they stop playing, or if they refuse to play, you are done and over. Being playful is not just in your attitude, it’s not your attitude, it’s the very attitude of the creator and the creation. And if you’re in tune with the creator and the creation, being playful is then very natural. Only when you’re not in tune with that, somewhere then you get totally enslaved by the process of either your mind, your thoughts, your emotions, or your opinions, your ideologies, your rights and wrongs, your moralities, then you lose being playfulness. And if you’re online with life, the creator, or the creation, you would naturally be playful. Then you start ignoring the larger creation and you become too attached to your little petty creation, which is happening here. And that is why all playfulness is gone. If you’re in line with the larger creation, there is no other way to be, and you will become playful naturally. If only one is playful, such a person can truly grapple with (應對) the problems in the world, without being affected by them, and do one’s best about them. If one doesn’t know how to be playful, those problems in this world will just eat one up. The problems that exist in this world are never simple or easy. If you try to grapple with them without the necessary playfulness in you, don’t ever think that you’re going to solve those problems. You are just to be gobbled (吞噬) by them. That’s about all that has been happening. Those problems have eaten up people, isn’t it so? Any number of people with intentions has it not swallowed? They have just been licked up (擊倒) by the existing situations. Haven't the problems of the world swallowed people? However, you can only handle those problems only if you’re truly playful. Otherwise, everything will be just roubles for you. If you maintain just a few moments in a day about what you’re doing, you’ll see that you and your physical body will start functioning so much better and your sleep quota will come down. And meditation becomes a natural process for one who is playful because the moment you are playful, you are not entangled with the things you’re doing. And once you’re not entangled with any of them, you’re not accumulating karma (業), and you’re doing yoga, and then the process of living is not entangling, only then it become liberating (解脫). But now you’re accumulating karma, instead of doing yoga with the activities, you’re performing right now. If you’re doing Yoga throughout the day, definitely, everything should get better, isn’t it? For beginners, who are not yet accomplished, these activities are then necessary, and if you don’t make the process playful, activities are always killing, no matter what the type of the activities are. There are different ways of passing through these situations, you know. In Mahabharata (摩訶婆羅多), we have seen a tremendous amount of the documents or statements on this to demonstrate how different human beings pass through the same situations. Almost anything that Krishna is going through, on a small scale, people around him are going through, in the aspects of how they go through them and how he goes through them, in terms of how different types of people, with different levels of consciousness, exist and go through the same living problems and situations.
Problems, such as when you’re traveling outside, or you’re in your office, some problems arise, if there are ten people, how these ten different people experience a little problem that’s coming up. One of them may pull another person's hair and freaks out, and some may pounce on somebody, one of them bangs another’s head, as one is looking for what he/she can do. Do you see these kinds of things always happen in the same given situations? So fundamentally, that’s what Mahabharata is there are all types of people, such as good people, bad people, and the outright evil, (壞透的惡魔). Absolutely they are just various types of people, if you look at it that every kind of human being you can find in any society, are all there in Mahabharat. A whole of people, such as the greedy ones, the absolutely selfish ones, fearful ones, brave ones, Wayland warriors, every kind of people are there in Mahabharat. They are all been put through a whole intense drama and if you look at each one’s experience, you will find it’s very different. However, Krishna is going through the maximum amount of drama, he remains untouched because he said that Yogasthaha Kuru Karmaani, which means, firstly you establish (穩固) yoga and then act (行動). However, if you act without establishing yourself in Yoga, then your action will become entanglement, it doesn’t matter what you are doing. Simple things that people take up to do in their life after all, for most people, 95% of the people in the world have taken a piece, just to earn something for their survival, procreate, bring up children, and that’s it. Just for the small drams, they have picked up for themselves, they only want only a little business, or a job, a home, a wife, a husband, and children. And this is it. To manage this where many of them end up in insane asylums, too. They’re just doing the simple jobs, isn’t it so? They are not taking up the problems of the world. They don’t want to be like Dharma Guptas wanting to establish Dharma in the world and take such great responsibility. They just earn the living, survive, procreate, and die, which every creature on the planet does. For that, see where people are ending up. How many people are ending up with total nuts, and how many are halfway down there? It’s too many people, right? It’s taking an unusually heavy toll (沉重代價) only for a simple life process? Though it’s not necessary taking this way, you know. But unfortunately, many people go that way, simply because there is no playfulness in their way of existence. There is no playfulness in the way they live and they are too dead serious.
Now these two things, intensity, and playfulness look contradictory. On one level, we are talking about intensity, passion, and devotion, and on the other level, we’re talking about playfulness, which is the whole thing. If it’s passion, you must burn with it, and if you’re half-hearted, you’ll not know what it is, and it just tortures you. You will not know the benefit of it. You really have to burn, otherwise, you will not know what it is at all. If you want to walk the path of devotion, and you also want to save yourself, it doesn't work that way. The idea of devotion, the idea of choosing the path of passion is that you burn up everything that is you. Only by doing things this way that, which you are passionate about, or devoting about, exists within you, in terms of what you call as "myself" is burnt up in the simple process. For a thinking mind, it looks self-destructive. But unless you’re willing to burn up the limited, another the possibility never arises within you. If another possibility has to touch you, firstly, you have to burn. |
