1893年（清光緒十九年）一位清朝的官員吳大澂，在6月13日登報讚揚孫逸仙醫師的技術高超。這則刊載在《鏡海叢報》上的感謝函，用「神乎其技」來形容孫醫師的技術高超，只花了7天就解決困擾他20多年的痔瘡問題。

大讚孫醫師妙手回春、奏效神速。 文中提到的孫逸仙，就是我們的國父孫中山，大家可能不記得原來他是醫學院第一名畢業的學生，專精西醫，這一年他在廣州設立了「東西藥局」，藉由醫術掩護革命。

沒想到國父也幫病人解決痔瘡問題吧？而且還神乎其技喔！如果他繼續行醫下去，應該也是個了不起的人物。

痔瘡的真實身世 一提到痔瘡，大家都很害羞，不太會是聊天時的主要話題，而且奇怪了，這跟腸道有關係嗎？當然有！除了自然的老化，痔瘡的形成跟便秘與腸躁有很大的關係。

前面我們已經知道，肛門的天生使命就是人體排泄物的出口，經年累月的使用，就會有老化與損害，想瞭解痔瘡形成的原因，就得從它的結構開始認識。

所以痔瘡在哪裡？首先它不是一個「器官」，而是生理構造的一部分，是我們與生俱來的。

鍾雲霓醫師說，從嬰兒時期開始，肛管內的血管和軟組織會隨著成長膨脹，逐漸形成肛管內部的軟墊。 雖然肛門口內、外括約肌能幫助體內的「物體」不要漏出來，但無法百分之百的完全封閉，所以「肛門軟墊」的作用就是讓肛門由內而外緊緊密合，讓我們就算偶爾腹瀉、腸內堆積糞水，也不會一走動就「外漏」。

肛門軟墊由3個組織構成：黏膜下血管、結締組織、平滑肌纖維。當肛門軟墊因為各種原因生病了，就是我們熟悉的「痔瘡」。

這首歌曲的歌詞是基於一名當時19歲、正就讀於康乃爾大學的利普頓所作的一首詩歌。他是由美國詩人奧頓·那許（Ogden Nash）一首所創作的詩歌《Custard the Dragon》獲得靈感。他創作完自己的那首詩歌後，便把它交給他的朋友、同樣就讀於康乃爾大學的耶羅，後者將這首詩改編為歌曲，並將更多的內容放在其歌詞中 。

這首歌的歌詞是一個關於一隻長生不老的龍「Puff」跟他的玩伴小男孩「Jackie Paper」的小故事。故事是說Jackie Paper小時候整天跟Puff玩耍，但魔法龍長生不老，小男孩卻會長大，Jackie長大後再也沒有來找Puff玩，令Puff生活在孤獨和沮喪之中。故事的場景設定於一個名叫「Honalee」的虛構小島，由利普頓取名。
