入秋之後

帝國糖廠的景致更加宜人

太陽不再炙熱酷暑

楊柳垂枝經過修剪

清風能夠徐徐而來

不會有密不透風的感覺

糖廠當然要種植甘蔗應景

簡單的黑甘蔗和白甘蔗

雨後奶瓶刷開花了

白千層的花與果實兼存

水茄苳的落花

珍貴稀有的溼地挺水木本植物，在夏天開出長長的總狀花序，花朵由上至下依序綻放，花瓣為乳白色，由許多淡粉紅色的雄蕊襯托著，果實成熟後成四稜形，如古代奕棋盤之腳，因而取名，夜間開花白天凋謝，清晨五點是極佳的賞花時間點，亦有「夏夜煙火」之稱。

「棋盤腳」名稱的由來，是因它與眾不同的果實外貌；觀其果實，其型如陀螺，末端尖尖的，基部呈方形，像是棋盤。
