Korean food is based on rice, noodles, tofu, vegetables and meats. Korean foods are noted for the number of side dishes that accompany steam-cooked rice. Kimchi, a fermented, spict vegetable dish is usually served along with the foods. Korean cuisine usually involves rich seasoning with sesame oil, fermented soybean paste, soy sauce, salt, garlic, ginger and red chili paste. Bulgogi: consists of marinated barbecue beef. It is made from thin slices of sirloin. The meat is marinated with a combination of soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, garlic and other ingredients such as scallions or mushrooms. Bulgogi is traditionally grilled. Galbi: is made with marinated beef (or pork) short ribs. The ingredients are marinated in a sauce made primarily from Korean soy sauce, garlic and sugar. Manduguk: is a variety of Korean soup made with dumpling stuff with ground meat and another filling in a beef broth. Galbitang: is a Korean soup, made primarily from beef short ribs along with stewing beef, daikon, onions and other ingredients. Bibimbap: means "mixed rice". It is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with sauteed/seasoned vegetabes and chili pepper paste. A raw or fried egg and sliced meat are common additions. The ingredients are stirred together thoroughly just before eating. It can be served either cold or hot. Vegetables commonly used in bibimbap include: cucumber, zucchini, daikon, mushrooms, spinach and bean sprouts. Naengmyun: means "cold noodles" and it is a Korean dish of long and thin hand-made noodles made from the flour and starch of various ingredients: buckwheat, potatoes and sweet potatoes. It is served in a large stainless bowl with a tangy iced broth, cucumbers, slices of Korean pear and either a boiled egg or slices of cold boiled beef. Spicy mustard sauce and vinegar are often added. Pajeon (Korean pancake): is a pancake-like Korean dish made from a batter of eggs, flour, rice flour, green onions and other additional ingredients. Pajeon is usually recognizable by the highly visible green onions. It is served usually with some sort of sauce. Sikhye (Korean rice drink): is one of the most cherished traditional Korean beverages.
