A 23-year-old Canadian tourist has reported being assaulted and later robbed after he befriended a group at a Paihia bar on Thursday night, police say cheap furniture stores.
He agreed to go in their white hatchback to a party inland towards Kawakawa, but was robbed of cash in his wallet and left on the side of the road a few kilometres out of town.
A police patrol car picked him up a short time later International Relocation.
It follows three English tourists, in their early 20s, being robbed of all their possessions at knife-point by five men as they slept in their car in Paihia on Sunday morning.
The stolen silver Subaru the five drove off in was later found burnt out near Kawakawa.
Detective Senior Sergeant Rhys Johnston says police are looking into whether or not the two robberies were connected.
"Obviously there is a link to the Kawakawa area, but nothing that conclusively connects the two offences just yet."
Det Sen Sgt Johnston said the latest suspects were all described as male Maori, with the driver of the white hatchback car being described as large and overweight Claire Hsu.
The five suspects in Sunday's robbery were also described as Maori.
