A bail application on behalf of the ex-Wham! star was cancelled according to court officials. Lawyers acting on behalf of the singer were due to apply for bail before a judge at Blackfriars Crown Court. The hearing in court 4 at Blackfriars Crown Court was due to take place this afternoon. But the application was withdrawn and the multimillionaire will now spend at least another weekend behind bars because the courts have to give 24 hours notice for a hearing to take place. A clerk for his barrister Mukul Chawla QC confirmed the hearing had been pencilled in the lawyer's diary saying: "It was in the diary, but now there's nothing in his diary today." Asked if there was any hearings for next week, he added "not at the moment". An official in the list office at Blackfriars Crown Court said: "It's been cancelled completely. There are no new dates for the hearing." A legal source said: "Courts have to have 24 hours notice for any applications and then it will appear on the next day's lists. "It looks like he will have to wait until next week if he is to have a hearing. There are judges sitting at the High Court at weekends but they are there for emergency applications such as injunctions, not things like this. "I doubt they would make an exception just because it's George Michael. Their attitude would be if you can't get your papers ready by Friday afternoon, then you will have to wait till Monday at the earliest. Hard cheese. "As it was listed already at Blackfriars, that court will hear any application." Yesterday, as Michael was visited in prison by gay lover Kenny Goss, the jailbird begged: "Help me get out of here." The couple wept as they met in a private room along with George's manager and another man. Michael, 47, was jailed on Tuesday having admitted drug driving. He was sentenced to eight weeks after crashing his Range Rover in July while high on cannabis. Michael — real name is Georgios Panayiotou — was found slumped at the wheel of the car after it smashed into a branch of Snappy Snaps in Hampstead, North London. He also admitted possessing two cannabis cigarettes when he appeared at London's Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court last month. ------------------------------------------------ 資料來源:The Sun George: Let me go-go... today By TOM WELLS and ANTHONY FRANCE Published: Today(2010/9/17) DESPERATE George Michael will today launch a legal bid for freedom - claiming his eight-week sentence is "excessive". Lawyers will demand a judge at Blackfriars Crown Court in London bails the singer while they appeal. Trip ... Kenny visits George at Pentonville(photo) The former Wham! star - whose hits include Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go - was jailed on Tuesday over a drug-fuelled car smash. And yesterday, as he was visited in prison by gay lover Kenny Goss, the jailbird begged: Help me get out of here. The couple wept as they met in a private room along with George's manager and another man. A source revealed: "George greeted Kenny and they started crying. "The two spent the full two hours together and at the end a guard had to remind Kenny the time was up. Neither wanted the other to leave." As art gallery owner Kenny, 50, left tough Pentonville Prison in North London, he was asked how his lover was bearing up. He replied: "He's doing OK. I think he's doing OK." The Freedom singer, 47, is being held in the jail's Vulnerable Prisoners Unit - home to paedos and rapists - for his own protection.
Fellow lags fumed at the visits. One claimed: "The meetings weren't even in the main hall like everyone else. It's clear favouritism." But a jail source insisted there would have been "chaos" if they had not been private and added: "Officers had to make a decision based on the effect it would have on the entire wing." Another insider revealed: "George is desperate to get out of Pentonville and still can't quite believe he's there. "He's pinning all his hopes on a judge giving him bail." His barrister Mukul Chawla is expected to appeal for the singer's release today. He will claim that his eight-week sentence for crashing his £80,000 Range Rover into a Snappy Snaps shop in Hampstead while under the influence of drugs was "manifestly excessive". Rub it in ... warden puts ticket on Kenny's car. DARREN FLETCHER(photo) And he will argue that bail should be granted because Michael's jail term could have ended by the time any appeal is heard. Ex-Wham! star George, who has a history of drug problems, has already failed in one bail attempt. When he was jailed on Tuesday, District Judge John Perkins told him: "Your record is of concern." Last night the Prison Service said: "We do not comment on individual prisoners." Things got even worse for distraught Kenny, though, after he said goodbye to George. He was hit with an £80 parking ticket by a traffic warden after overstaying by ten minutes. ------------------------------------------------ 資料來源:mirror.co.uk George Michael's boyfriend Kenny Goss says the singer's 'doing ok' By Martin Fricker 17/09/2010 Kenny says George's OK He was reunited with the shamed star 48 hours after watching him being led away from the dock in tears. The pair spent two hours in a private visiting room at Pentonville prison, North London, where they exchanged more tears in an emotional meeting. The Faith singer, who was jailed on Tuesday for eight weeks for drug-driving, has been locked up in the sex offenders' block in G Wing. Inmates have teased him by mocking his hits. But Kenny believes Michael is coping with his new surroundings. He said: "He's doing OK, I think he's going to be OK." Kenny joined relatives of other inmates queuing to see their loved ones at the 2pm visiting slot. A prison source said: "The prison chiefs didn't want them to meet in the main visiting area because it would have caused chaos. So they arranged for a private visiting area. "They were both crying when they saw each other. Kenny found it hard to leave when it was time to go." When Kenny, who was wearing jeans and a green jacket, did leave he found his grey Range Rover had been given an £85 parking ticket. Michael, 47, admitted driving while unfit through drugs and possession of cannabis after smashing his £80,000 Range Rover into a shop in Hampstead, North London, in July. The singer, of nearby Highgate, tried to get bail 30 minutes after being jailed but Judge John Perkins rejected his appeal. He met with his lawyers yesterday to launch another appeal.
