Not too long after I bought Muir Lodge Motel I met
Mr. Black, our handy man in 1990.

He was slim with curd hair and seemed know a lot
about field work. He was introduced by former owner
Dr. George A Huber and was said a hard worker and
trustworthy.

One day I sent for Mr. Black for a small thing.
"Mr. Black, would you do me a favor tomorrow?"
"What is it, Mr. Han?"
" Here is a new 20" TV I bought yesterday from K-mart and
receipt. Would you return this TV to K-market tomorrow and
get me refund? I will pay you $20.00 for the trip."
"Sure thing."

the next day he showed up in the office and asked for work.
"What happened to the refund?" I asked.
"K-mart clerk said that they will send me refund by check within
a couple of week."

I came to the United States only a couple of years ago at that time
and did not know the rules of merchandise return and refund.
I trusted him and waited over ten days for K-mart mail or phone
with regards to the returned TV. One day I happened to go
to Merced for grocery and dropped in K-mart inquiring the return
TV. I was told by K-mart clerk that it was K-mart policy that once
goods returned with receipt, K-mart will refund the cash in the store.

I was furious and knew that I was cheated by Mr. Black for $200.00.
When I returned to the office I sent for Mr. in my office.
"Mr. Black, according to K-mart they already refunded the money.
I do not know who was telling the truth. You or K-mart?
My decision is that either you return me the money $200.00
or you do not have to come back to work any more.
Good bye, Mr. black!

Mr. Black never showed up the next day. That is the end of this story.
That reminds me of my article 葉盛茂 &陳聰明 whom do you believe?
I am not President Ma nor Miss Wang who has right to fire 陳聰明.
But the fact remains the same. I believe that 陳聰明was telling a lie.
I would fire him on the spot without doubt. 

BTW, If I were Ma or Wang, I would Assign 張熙懷 as assistant DA
to 陳聰明 in public capacity. In another words, where when and how
陳聰明 were conducting his official DA capacity 張熙懷 will go
together. We will see how  陳聰明 react in this matter. Does Ma as
President of ROC have power to announce that appointment?
