We'll return to Taipei next week; there are nothing special for us to prepare for, except packing suitcases with laundries and other daily-used stuff. But a friend of my wife's in Taiwan asked her a favor of bringing some vials of vitamin back, and so I drove to a Costco for the VITAMIN yesterday morning. (My wife doesn't drive either in States or in Taiwan despite that she has valid driver's licenses.) You know, besides vision problems, she is not "sensible" to English, so she keyed a wrong address into the GPS, which took us a long way to a wrong place. Then she checked the address again and found it is not far away from where we are staying at now. But it was near high noon then, so we decided to get back home and to do the "task" some other time before leaving for Taiwan. Frankly, I got a little riled up. Well, time was when I was working in L.A. during mid 80's and in NYC during mid 90's, I had been a regular "courier" in the air. Lack of globalization and online purchasing neccissitated such activities of human touch. But now time has changed. People are able to buy as much quantity of vitamin and other ordinary stuff as they wish at Costco in Taiwan, or just purchase them with their finger tips moving on mobile phone or Ipad, then why bother asking someone else to purchase them from abroad for? Therefore, asking favor from others only when you have to. Just spare your friends any unnecessary troubles like this. |
