Located at Wenchang, a tourist city in the tropical island province of Hainan,  the construction work of the fourth and most advanced space-launch center in China is nearly complete.  Certainly, the facility is not accessible to the public; no other similiar facilities in the world are, either.  But nearby there are plans to build a space-themed amusement park. "China is beginning to see new moneymaking opportunities in space.", according to a recent report from the Economist.   

The decision to build the base on Hainan was made for technical reasons: the locations proximity to the equator, which will allow rockets to take better advantage of the kick from the Earth’s rotation than is currently possible with launches from China’s other bases, thus will allow a bigger payload with lesser fuel in the future launching, the magazine also said. 

In addition to its military importance, the very outpost for watcing over and controlling South China Sea, Hainan is a tropical, salubrious island , just a little bit smaller than Taiwan, suitable of becoming a mecca for touists.  It is said that now the beach of Sanya has emulated that of Waikiki and Pattaya as one of the most popular resorts in the world.  I am hoping someday in the near future I could go there, and hopefully by the time that space-themed amusement park in Wenchang will have completed. 

P.S.  But dont go there for the purpose that salacious joke used to suggest: "Ere you go to Hainan, you may not be aware of how bad your body condition is."
