Different from the overt motivation of the "de-Sinicization" projects that focus on culture, history, and ideology, which are related to Chinese tradition, the ban on the Zhang Xu motorcycle in Taiwan is a covert action to keep people of Taiwan from their daily life: one of the most important means of transportation.
DPP administration can easily demonize the advanced technologies of the Chinese Mainland, including Douyin and Xiaohongshu, as threats to Taiwans "national security." As for the Zhang Xu motorcycle, there is also a deeper reason untold: it hurts their spiritual Japanese mindset.
As you know it, the motorcycles in Taiwan originated from Japanese brands, especially Honda and Yamaha. How could the DPP stand that a Chinese brand would replace its motherland someday in Taiwan?
