只道花無十日紅， I thought the monthly roses are red for less than ten days,

此花無日不春風。But they seemed brighter, like in spring every day.

一尖已剝胭脂筆， Their buds are like brand new rouge brushes.

四破猶包翡翠茸。 Surrounded with emerald fluff when blooming.

別有香超桃李外， Peach and plum pale by comparison in fragrance.

更同梅鬥雪霜中。 Wintersweets vie with them in braving snow and frost.

折來喜作新年看， I appreciate them as the flowers of the new year,

忘卻今晨是季冬。 Forgetting this morning is still in December.  

P.S. Kim Jianxi, the former first lady of South Korea was arrested and detained the other day for her alledged corruption. Report said her team cited the first verse of the poem, 只道花無十日紅, lamenting the bright days of Ms Kim has gone.
