Recently, China Mainland announced curtailment on electricity despite her quick recovery of economy from the pandemic, while most of other countries still trapped in mire. The reasons? Opinions vary. Some people would say China now utilizes a drastic measure to upgrade her manufacturing capability, trying to eliminate the low-end but energy-consuming products; others say she wants to neutralized carbon emission by 2060 as she has promised. And even some critics say that China is going to export the latent inflation to the U.S. Well, the curtailment may be a muti-purpose decision. Anyway, "what medicine is sold in the gourd of hers?" PS Last week when we visited my son in Denver, Colorado, he took us to a medium-sized but all-inclusive botanical garden. Somewhere in the garden there are gourds on an arbor. To my surprise, my son and his wife have not seen a gourd before. When I told them the hard shell of the fruit when dried can be used as utensils, cups, bottles, ladles, and other useful objects, and also taught them subject Chinese idiom, they were interested in these kinds of new "knowledge" about guards. |
