One day when I was working in Los Angles during mid 80s, I went to a theater at Monterey Park to watch an "American" movie "北京故事". The film was scripted, directed, and also playing as a cameo by Mr Wang Zhengfang from Taiwan, who then started his foray into film business from a enviable professor of EE.
The film illustrated the cultural conflicts between China and Western world in the time of early "Reform and Open" with kind of a bitter-sweet manner. Long before he filmed the movie, Mr Wang had already been an activist in the movement of "Safeguarding Diaoyutai islets against Japan and America", and thus become a leftist since.
