Benjamin Bloom created six steps to learning. He developed a good taxonomy learning skills, which are knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. Those are important learning skills in education and the learning process should be helpful for teachers and students to get their learning achievement. And he believes that teachers and all learners can get higher level throughout his learning process.
I think Bloom’s six learning methods can be useful for the ESL program. The ESL program offers different levels for students. Teachers have to know what the students’ ability is and which level students have to go with. The other one, I think, is also useful for children in learning English as a second language curriculum. It would help children in learning any kind of foreign language. In order to improve learners’ ability in learning, teachers and parents should support their children or youths to get the best learning achievement. The lesson plans should be related to students’ lives to interest and motivation. The whole learning process has to make sure that students understand the goals and benefits of a problem solving approach for language. I believe that bloom’s taxonomy is supposed to be used by curriculum developers and the teachers mainly for structuring the curriculum contents in learning foreign languages.
