aww, it's so cute, please continue soon =) I’m glad you liked it. I have to admit that I enjoy writing the cute elfling stuff sometimes. I get tired of writing about disemboweling Orcs.
Aww, that was very cute. Playing in the snow is fun, for *all* ages. I'm 17 and I still go outside when ever it snows!
I do not really like reading or writing in first person, unless of course its for an essay or a review, heh. How ever, you did a wonderful job with this chapter. It just took a few minutes to get used to while reading it.
It's also nice to see Legolas happy and carefree. And the begining was too cute for words.
I look forward to the next chapter!
It took me a while to get used to writing this way too! I kept wanting to jump around and talk about the other characters and speak really formally and Eilian is just not the formal type. Cute is good.
I am unused to first person narratives, but I really liked this. I think it fits well with this story. We, the readers, can really get into Eilian's head and his relationship with Legolas more this way. The scenes in here are very cute and it's great to see the happiness again of just being with the family. Nicely done.
-Frodo
I’m glad you like this fluffier story, Frodo. This is just family playing together and it’s exactly what they all needed too!
Fantastic, another Little Legolas story! I just adore these stories of him as an elfling. Can't wait for updates. Daw, you receive some kind of medal for your ability to keep these stories going wihout any loss of quality. Great job!Thank you! I missed writing about little Legolas too. This story is done, I’m afraid, and now I think I have to go back to more serious stuff. But little Legolas is always there where I need to go back to him. Not like in real life!
Something tell's me that Legolas's ada would not be pleased to discover what Eilian is teaching him. Ah well. Very cute chapter so far. It's interesting hearing Eilian's thoughts. He's a good character to do this from. It takes getting used to though. I'm so used to you writing in third person that it's weird at first. I look forward to the next update. If you think it was weird at first reading in the first person, you should have seen what it was like for me writing in the first person! I stared at my blank computer screen and said “Wait! How do I do this?” And you see how Adar reacted. I’m not sure he was pleased at what Eilian taught Legolas, but he was sure pleased by how happy Legolas was.
Oh, this is so sweet! I love to see Eilian and Legolas together, of course, you already know that! :) I just wish you would make this story longer than two chapters, I love any story that portrays Legolas as being little! *sigh* But, I will take any morsel you care to give us! ;)
Uh oh, snow tunnels! Why does my stomach do a flip flop at that *idea*? Probably cause it's Eilians and I can just *smell* trouble! LOL
Can't wait for the next one! :)
I don’t think I could sustain the first person longer than two chapters! I only tried this because I knew the story would be short. I hope the snow tunnels provided just as much entertainment as you thought they might.
Ah, nice flashback time. I think that you handled the POV well (and you're right, first person is very difficult, which is why I never use it). The tone does sound a little . . . I don't know, young for Eilian, who is a seasoned warrior returned from the southern patrol. But Eilian was never that mature anyway.
Legolas is at his very best, so sweet. Loved the image of him on the snowdrift, shouting "I am my ada!" Perfect! Though perhaps it's for the best that Eilian is so much older than him. If he had both Eilian and Turgon as playmates I don't know how he'd ever have survived Elflinghood.
Lamiel
I wanted to experiment with first person POV and it seemed easier to do it in a short elfling story than in some of the more complicated plot lines I have on my list of stories to do. Eilian is pretty young by elven standards. He’d be about 70 or so, which means he’s of age but not by much. Tolkien says some elves don’t reach their adult appearance until they’re 100. And as you say, he’s slow to mature. Eilian and Turgon in combination is a frightening thought.
Aw little Legolas is so cute!! The song The Little Boy Who Giggled So Sweet by Emiliana Torrini reminds me of Legolas. =O) Great chapter!!
*~* Dy *~*
I don’t know the song but the title alone is so cute! Little Legolas is a sweetie and is fun to write about.
You really know how to pluck the old heart strings don't you?
"We will be warriors together." "I hope not"
Lots here in this first chapter for those of us totally hooked on little Legolas and friends and on Eilian and friends.
Celuwen already rejecting Eilian's visits as too painful and Eilian dealing with it like Scarlett O'Hara. He'll put off thinking about it until some putative tomorrow. Sigh.
Eilian being a pain for Ithilden and Ithilden being sorry he has to burden Eilian with such heavy responsibilities.
"We'll be warriors together." "I hope not."
Eilian's acceptance of his role in Legolas' life and his desiring more freedom for Legolas knowing that adar will never allow this and for Legolas' own good. Not wanting to burden his "brat" brother just as Ithilden doesn't want to burden his unstable brother.
Legolas is so good for Eilian just as vice versa is true. They really need each other now. Eilian needs some unconditional love and Legolas needs a hero that kills orcs and keeps him safe. Adar has to deal with Legolas' question about Eilian's sword and did it kill orcs? Just the kind of question and adar doesn't want to think about.
"We'll be warriors together." "I hope not."
Now we are in snow territory and I am sure Nimloth is going to have to get Gelmir and Eilian for leading her charges into uncertain territory. I know there will be some devilry afoot. Eilian atracts trouble like sweets attract bees.
And Eilian and Legolas will be warriors together. And Eilian will still hope not.
Sigh.
Thanx for our new story.
Your review was positively poetic, Farflung, and I enjoyed it shamelessly. I’m afraid Eilian really thinks that ignoring his problems is the best way to deal with them. Sigh. One of the things first person POV let me do was highlight a little more how vulnerable Eilian is to the disapproval he expects from his father and Ithilden. He looks carefree and he certainly invites trouble, but he’s still stung by their disapproval. So Legolas’s unconditional love is something he really treasures. And as you can see, the five snow tunnelers did get into some mischief here, but I laughed myself silly writing this and I firmly believe that Thranduil and Ithilden laughed about it too.
nteresting story
It's nice that there is so mmuch Eilian in it.
The idea of ambushing unsuspecting peope er elver is funny.
I love little Legolas fics!
Legolas coming into Eilian's room in the morning is adorable--it reminds me of when my sister was little! And I'm sure Eilian does love it that there's always *someone* who will think well of him, even if his dad and older brother are disappointed.
But why do I get the feeling that the snow tunneling will lead to trouble? Well, I'm going to read the next chapter now, so I guess I'll find out...
eilian's rite...there are some things that are better than a warm, comfy bed...but not many thing! he he he...yay ur doing another lil lego fic!! yay!
YAY! A Little Legolas story! I love those ones!
I really liked this from Eilian's POV. Very interesting! I really liked the line that everyone should be lucky enough to have a little brother. Unfortunatley I am not (I do not have any for that matter. Legolas is so very cute! I grinned and chuckled through this entire chapter!
>“I do not think Eilian is too grown up at all,
