葛瑞森·柴斯於1997年8月16日在美國威奇托福爾斯 (德克薩斯州)出生，現定居於美國埃徳蒙奧克拉荷馬州。葛瑞森是家中的幼子，家中成員包括有爸爸（Scott Chance)，媽媽（Lisa Chance)，兩位也學習音樂的兄姐，19歲的哥哥(Tanner)及16歲的姐姐(Alexa)。葛瑞森於8歲起開始學習鋼琴，並有學習三年正規鋼琴課堂，但他在成名之前沒有接受過任何正規聲樂訓練。葛瑞森·柴斯的音樂深受女神卡卡及克莉絲汀·阿奎萊拉影響。另外，葛瑞森會在表演前咬一口自己胸前所掛著的子彈形狀頸飾，給自己放鬆。
來自奧克拉荷馬州(Oklahoma)的12歲男孩因他自彈自唱當紅女歌手Lady GaGa的歌「Paparazzi」而在網路世界爆紅。
就讀六年級的葛雷森柴斯(Greyson Chance) 在今年四月學校的才藝表演上，被拍下他用鋼琴自彈自唱這首歌的過程並上傳到Youtube。而這支影片在美國時間周四上午已超過了800萬的點閱率。
柴斯的表演也吸引到了小胖林育群曾上過的知名脫口秀《艾倫愛說笑》(Ellen DeGeneres Show)的製作人注意。柴斯獲邀至節目中表演，並透過電話連線與Lady GaGa通話。Lady GaGa稱讚柴斯很可愛也相當有天賦，還鼓勵他朝著夢想前進。
