一直很喜歡60年代的一首反戰歌曲Where Have All the Flowers Gone? 最先是由美國民歌手 Pete Seeger 創作的。1955年他在飛往Oberlin College 的飛機上寫下了三段歌詞 “Where are the flowers, the girls have plucked them. Where are the girls, they’ve all taken husbands. Where are the men, they’re all in the army.” 那詞是一二年前他讀了俄羅斯長篇小說 And Quiet Flows the Don （靜靜的頓河），書𥚃的 Cossack 哥薩克軍人在他們要從軍加入俄羅斯Czar 軍隊時唱的歌。在1960年時他發表了這首新作品，但在同一年 Joe Hickerson 給這首歌加了另二段的歌詞並且在最後再加上原來的第一段歌詞。Hickerson 當時是 Oberlin College 的學生聽到這首歌後在一個夏令營𥚃他自己加了歌詞唱給小朋友聽。Seeger 覺得很好就用了他加入的歌詞並且給了他百分之二十的版稅。我覺得Hickerson的添加譲整首歌更完整更有意義！

這首歌被翻唱成將近三十個語言，其中竟然也有中文版的，是潘秀瓊唱的，中文歌名是“花兒怎麼不見了”，在Dailymotion裏可以找到潘秀瓊唱的影片。在YouTube裏也可以找到Seeger唱的最早只有三段歌詞的原版，不過我還是比較喜歡The Kingston Trio唱的版本。
