無處不在的趣譚
當年在臺灣的《中央日報》,它的中央副刊(簡稱「中副」)引領文藝風騷,特徵之一是版面下方有讀者投稿的「趣譚」及美國漫畫《白朗黛》(Blondie),「趣譚」是方塊 短篇,常引人會心一笑,我當年讀「中副」,就先找「趣譚」。其實,生活中趣譚、幽默、糗事無處不在,用點心思,隨手可得。

However, 2 female team members came to me with a serious look for an issue on Quality Center…ohh, it is Contact Center, not Quality Center. … either they said it wrong, or I heard it incorrectly. It is Monday morning. Some of us if not all might still be in the weekend mood. Of course, I dug into whatisgoingonetherewiththenewidforsecuritysake right away. Right away, my stress level increased immediately with an exponential jump. I could feel my hairs screaming and turning into grey again … for about 15 minutes. A Happy Monday turned into a Stressed Monday?! L The 2 girls then came to me again with a root cause found which, of course, is nothing to do with my dry tests on shop profiles. My stress level is decreased to normal and my hairs are turning back to black. J I miss the stand-up meeting. Happy Monday.
What is the best way to get relief from stress? What is the universal thing that people of every culture throughout history share? Humor… That’s the theme for today. Fellow toastmasters and honored guests, humor creates laughter which is very beneficial to our health. It relaxes our body, boosts our immune system, fosters good mental health and promotes pleasure. Humor helps us cling to more positive perspectives. YES, humor is a way of perspective. We need to find it. As I remember long time ago when I worked for a small company, our boss used to come to our cubicle to check on us EVERY TEN MINUTES. Yes, EVERY TEN MINUTES!! A 10-minute status report? Our boss must be very tired in checking on us. But, luckily for us, our manager is not the “One minute Manager”. … he did not check on us every minute. So, when you have a stressful situation, try to find the humor in it. Take a few minutes daily either thinking of something humorous or reading a funny joke on the internet. You will find that this simple exercise will relieve stress and you will laugh more. Cheers to good health!!
