Go back to the past

Act as a spoiled child before Mom
Even she may feel quite at a loss at my pestering
Her to show doting love to me

If I do not grow up, I can
Use willful crying and laughing as the means
To gain care and solicitude from parents
To control rain or sunshine in their heart

If I do not grow up, I can
Run about barefooted in the countryside
Play games free from any worry and care:
Play peg-tops, play glass beads, and sumo …

If I do not grow up, I can
Go to the field as I like
To enjoy the dancing and singing of birds and insects
To catch crickets for fighting, to dig up earthworms and to angle fishes and frogs …

If I do not grow up, I can
Freely breathe in fresh air
I can jump into the limpid river to swim and to catch fish and shrimps
No need to face up to various pollutions

If I do not grow up, I can
Laugh heartily, say what I think
And can speak words from the bottom of my heart
To enjoy free and innocent pleasure

If I do not grow up, I can
Live in muddleheadedness
Unaware of disease and the bitterness of medicine
Day after day, year after year …

If I do not grow up, I can
Be regardless of loss or gain, shun calculation
And trickery of the mature world
To live a carefree and innocent life

If I do not grow up, I can
Be free from any pressure and harm
Including homework, body, and interpersonal relationship …
Including life, money, and vicious power …

If I do not grow up, I can
Sing If I Grow Up with abandon
Let there be more space for my growth
No need to pray in private for If I Do Not Grow Up

賺取父母親人的焦急和安心

左右他們心中的陰晴風雨

打著赤腳在鄉間到處亂跑

無憂無慮地玩各種遊戲：

打陀螺、玩玻璃彈珠、相撲……

隨意到田野裡

欣賞眾鳥和昆蟲們的舞蹈和音樂會

抓蟋蟀相鬥，挖蚯蚓釣魚釣青蛙……

只要不長大，我便可以

大口大口呼吸新鮮空氣

跳進清淅的江河裡游泳、抓魚蝦

不必去面對各種污染之害

只要不長大，我便可以

縱聲大笑，有話就說

真誠大膽地坦露肺腑之言

享受無知、「童言無忌」之樂

只要不長大，我便可以

懜懜懂懂，迷迷糊糊

不知病痛、藥物到底有多苦

日復一日、年過一年地過生活……

只要不長大，我便可以

不計毀譽，躲過大人世界的

許多機巧、算計、詭詐

過自由自在、天真無邪的日子

只要不長大，我便可以

免受任何壓力和傷害

包括課業、身體、人際關係……

包括生活、金錢、惡勢力……

盡情地唱「只要我長大」

讓前面成長的空間更大更寬廣

不必在私下祈求「只要不長大」
