How much does life weigh?

The emotionally and physically charged lives of three people - a college professor (Sean Penn), an ex-con (Benicio Del Toro) and a young mother with a reckless past (Naomi Watts) - collide unexpectedly in this gripping suspense thriller.

Fate brought them together. Now vengeance will take them to the heights of love, the depths of revenge and the promise of redemption. Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, and Naomi Watts give the finest performances of their careers in the film that is "tantalizingly alive!"

How much does life weigh? This movie's "21 Grams'" English title tells us, but where did they get the number 21? In 1907, a doctor from Massachusetts reported that humans lose 21 grams at the exact moment of death. It's the same as other animals, which is interesting. Let's not question the correctness of the number or the existence of a soul, but look to another meaning in the title. Whether your life is long or short, plentiful or barren, it's still 21 grams. This is not a great quantity but is just so heavy that people can't handle it. Like the novelist, Milane, says, "it's so light that life can't take it."

        The story starts at a big traffic accident, and tells how it affects the destiny of three people who didn't know each other. Cristina Peck (Naomi Watts) has a happy family but her husband and two daughters are killed in a car crash caused by Jack Jordan (Benicio Del Toro) who is a criminal with a previous conviction. At the same time Paul Rivers (Sean Penn) is awaiting a heart transplant. Paul gets a new heart from Cristina's husband, and starts falling in love with her and wants to find Jack and get revenge. Cristina feels hopeless and tries to seek comfort from Paul but he has her ex-husband's heart. There is a lot of coincidence in life to shake the spectator's soul.

        In a word, this is a 'heavy' movie. Marianne (Melissa Leo), Sean Penn, and Benicio Del Toro explore the emotionally and physically charged existences that make their characters in the movie so true to life. Sean Penn won a Best Actor award and Benicio Del Toro and Naomi Watts earned Audience Awards for Best Actor and Actress for their performances in this movie. The movie "21 Grams", in fact, is not special for Hollywood, but the director used intersect editing, many line narratives, and space-time interlock to tell the story. You may feel confused in the beginning, but in the end each part comes together to become one.
