排隊的趣事

Apple打上幼稚園起, 老師就教說人多時要守秩序. 記得小朋友們一面用手摸肚子, 一面排成一行, 唱著 "排排隊, 吃果果. 小小肚子, 吃不多!" (吃不多纔怪!? 我想是老師們用心理戰, 要小朋友少吃點). 所以Apple小時有規規矩矩的排隊習慣.

稍大後, 發現有些場合是不可能排隊的; 例如在公車站, 火車站, 電影院進出口, 學校的福利社. 只要是人多的地方, 常常沒有隊可以排. 等公車時即使有人排成行, 車來時一群人一擁而上, 潰不成隊. 排也是白搭. Apple一直看不慣, 耿耿於懷.

出國以後很高興的看到大多數人遵守次序, 排隊成習. 久而久之, 視為當然. 三年前去中國旅遊, 文化衝擊不少. 印象中到處都是人, 常要排隊.

記得在北京紫禁城參觀時, 導遊領著我們去四星級的洗手間(門外牆上真的掛了四個星). 洗手間不大, 還算乾淨. 但間數不多, 當時都有人在內. 女兒和我便站在門口, 排個兩人隊. 突然間, 來了十多位大小娘兒們. 轟然湧進! 一瞬間, 每間門口站了四, 五個人. 小小空間擠滿了人, 根本無法動彈. 女兒和我仍在門口; 換言之, 在隊伍之外.

仗著177公分女兒在一旁, Apple膽子大了起來. 大喝一聲. 要求大家排成一條龍, 女兒和我是龍頭, 把守門口. 十來位大小娘們瞪眼看著我倆. 稀奇! 瞧了一會, 居然乖乖地出門排成一行. Apple欣慰的謝謝大家守秩序. 那知當Apple辦完事, 打開門一看. 昏倒!!! 十幾個人趁我們關門時, 早已一湧而進. 原先的一條龍升天了!

還有一件排隊的趣事留著下回再說....

"唉呀浮加特喇嘉克德", 唸快一點就八九不離十了.

不知從何時起有許多格友稱Apple為老師. Apple從未當過老師; 也沒資格當老師. 只是喜歡找些有趣的問題來讓眾人傷腦筋. 自己也順便玩耍. 下面的問題難度不一. 大家都可試試:

1. 1/1 3/2 7/5 17/12 41/29 ?/?

2. 有一個英文字, 它是單數. 尾上加一個"S", 它成了複數.

再加一個"S", 它又成了單數. What is the word?

3. 有一堆花生若平分給二人, 三人, 四人, 五人, 或六人, 都會剩一顆.

若分給七人則不剩. 這堆花生有多少顆? (在100至600間)

4. Use 5 zeros and any mathematical operations to get 120.

用五個零和任何數學運算使結果為 120.

5. 有一家船公司每天定時有一條船從A至B. 同時有一條船起程由B至A.

路線一樣, 船速一樣, 而且不變. 七天可抵達目的地. 經年如此.

有一天小明在A上船去B. 只要有船在附近, 小明一定上甲板去觀望.

請問七天中小明一共看到幾條這家公司的船? (他搭的船不算.)

6. 一和二樓間有個自動手扶電梯(Escalator).

大華在一樓上電梯. 電梯上升, 他也同時爬梯.

他一步一階, 共走了16步. 假如他一步上兩階, 則走了12步.

電動梯停下的話, 一樓到二樓有幾個階梯?

(大華一步一階和一步兩階需時一樣.)

討論: 船相向而行, 小明半天可見對面來船.

若算上起航和到達時, 則如植樹問題, 兩頭種樹要加 1.

小明起程時, 海上已另有八條船. 加上後來七天, 每天一條.

挑戰第五題

Apple,先問您這船公司得有幾條船來滿足每天一班由A往B同時有一班由B往A?
就算每天早上八點出發,那時在A及B各一條船,中間的六個點各有兩條船.
總共14條船就夠了.若不算小明的船,他該會看見其它13條船!
這和植樹問題不太一樣吧? 樹不會跑的呀!

噢, Apple is a minority in this case.

Let's just look at one direction, say from A ----> B:

1 ---> 2 ---> 3 --- >4 ---> 5 ---> 6 --- >7---> 8 (at 8:00 AM)

There are 8 ships where #1 just left the harbor A while #8 just arrived at harbor B. 我說像植樹問題, 因為八條船才能滿足七天的航運.

I don't think #8 is ready in 0 minutes to leave harbor B towards A. 旅客要下船哪!

So in the other direction from B to A, there are 8 ships (#9 - 16)also.

Does it make any sense to you now?

常不定期到 Apple 的格子巡一巡

我腦子不好, 數學更爛, 所以通常不敢答題

今早逛進來, 看到你出示答案, 核對 Justin 的答題

我盯著 Justin 的圖形看半天, 也認為應該 6 艘

看了你的解答, 我還是堅持 24 小時才會有一艘船經過

Justin 分別畫了 Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 ..... 我才恍然大悟

今天大概是我近一年, 用腦最多的一天

這個"船"問題真的很有意思.

假如只有兩條船相向, 大家都會. 中途會面嘛!

撇開別的船不看, #1 和 #14 不正是如此嗎?

這個反時針動的 daisy chain 加了難度和樂趣.

照你的船隊圖形:

因為 #1 和 (#14thru#9)相向(面對面)而行, 半天即可見到一隻船.

啟程半天(12 hours)後, #1 and #14相會.一天(24 hours)後, #1 and #13再相會.

Day 1: #14, 13 Day 2: 12, 11 Day 3: 10, 9 Day 4: 8, 7

Day 5: #6, 5 Day 6: 4,3 Day 7: 2

In this case, Shao-ming will see 13 ships in 7 days.

If you count the one upon departure(#15) and the one at the end(#0), then the count is 15.

Confused enough??

a. 小明就算有千里眼, 航行一天距離, 無法目視到前後一天的船隻

(除非是雷達螢幕)

b. 碼頭船班排序, 絕對不同於植樹問題

可以在海上航行七天的大客輪, 不可能同一碼頭, 同一時間一進一出

比較合乎實際的安排,

例如 : 10 am 抵達, 等人貨卸完, 再等回程客貨進船, 2 pm 返航

So, 我的答案 6 艘比較正確. 報告完畢.

a. 我們只需算對面來的船.

b. 大船卸貨清船要24小時怎麼辦?

I still don't see why 6 only. With your assumption, it should be 13 or 14.

Confusing question statements

「每天定時有一條船從A至B. 同時有一條船起程由B至A.」 can be interpreted in two ways:

Every day at the same time, there is a ship heading to B from A and also a ship starting from B heading to A.

This statement implies no assumption that a ship is coming into the harbor while another one is leaving. This seems to be the most natural interpretation.

Your interpretation is:

Every day there is a ship arriving at A from B and at the same time a ship is leaving A for B, which is the same as 同時有一條由B起程的船到達A.

If your interpretation is correct, which I still have problems, then there is a need to assume additionally that the the same occurred at B by the reader. Semantically, this is not a tight enough logic qualifying it as an unambiguous question.

Well, I still think that 13 is the right answer given the best possible interpretation. My apology, this is not meant to argue but to clarify the intention and the answers of the question.

不過目的是讓大家用用心思. 假設不同, 也沒有關係.

If you agree that any extra vessels will allow the ships to stay in the harbor for extra time of loading and unloading, then the answer is till 13 ships seen on the trip. The company only maintains the schedule of one departure each day. So, all ships that are not traveling should be harbored at both ends, they can't leave earlier than the maintained schedule.

On the trip there will only be 13 others ships seen. Each half day, one ship will be seen. So, the answer is still 13 others, excluding those seen in the harbors. :)

I have to say Apple's answer of 15 is incorrect this time.

小明的船自A起程時, 正好有一條船(sailed 7*24hrs)自B抵達A.

小明的船抵達B時, 正好有船起程去A.

所以小明起程A時看到一條船進港. 然後每12小時看到一船. 到B時又看到一船出港.

Total = 1 + 13 + 1 = 15

"只要有船在附近, 小明一定上甲板去觀望"

Please note that I mentioned shao-ming would see any ship in the close-by area. I did that on purpose, so those two ships would be counted.

Dear Apple,

The answer should be 13 instead of 15. The arrangement of all 14 vessels is illustrated as follows:

This is a circular arrangement of 14 vessels to cover the total trips of 7 days each way.

Any boat in addition to 14 will allow the vessels to stay extra time in the harbors.
