The Anniversary Game
Allen:　Wow, what a great evening to go to a baseball game!
Cindy:　The weatherman said it was going to rain, but it’s cleared up now.
Allen:　What time does the game start?
Cindy:　Six o’clock, but we should get there early for the 1)giveaways.
Allen:　Oh? Is something special happening tonight?
Cindy:　Yeah, it’s the sixtieth 2)anniversary of WGN-TV.
Allen:　Is that the television station that airs the baseball games?
Cindy:　Yep. There’s gonna be a big 3)commemoration and everything.
Allen:　Well, let’s get a move on. I don’t want to miss out on those 4)souvenirs!

週年慶球賽
艾倫：哇，今天晚上的天氣真適合去看場棒球賽！
辛蒂：氣象預報員本來會下雨，但是現在已經放晴了。
艾倫：比賽幾點開始？
辛蒂：六點，不過為了拿贈品，我們要早點到。
艾倫：喔？今晚有什麼特別的嗎？
辛蒂：有啊，今天是WGN-TV的十六週年慶。
艾倫：就是轉播棒球比賽的那家電視台嗎？
辛蒂：對啊。現場將會有一個盛大的慶祝典禮。
艾倫：那我們要趕快。我可不想錯過那些紀念品！

Kathy: We'll have to go to the warehouse later and check a container load that was also damaged at sea. I guess there was a leak and the boxes got soaked.
我們待會得到倉庫去檢查在海上也受到損壞的一批貨櫃。我想會有裂縫，且箱子會浸濕。

Ron: You're kidding me!
你在開玩笑吧！

Kathy: No. I'm dead serious.
不。我是非常認真的。

Ron: I guess that we'll have our hands full this week filling out reports.

Kathy: We'll focus our attention on the cameras that have manufacturing defects first. They will be our top priority. The damaged goods can wait until later.

Ron: Of course. The design team will have to be informed of the problem so that they can come up with a solution. Maybe we'll have to have a recall if we receive too many complaints.

1.return (v.) 退回；歸還

例：A shipment of digital cameras has been returned to the Digicam Company, and Ron and Kathy are examining the products.

例：You can borrow a car here and return it in another city, but you will be surcharged for this..

2. insure (v.) 為 … 投保

例：You need to insure your car against accidental damage.

※ 小叮嚀：

"insure" 的主詞若為事物時，須使用被動語態。

3. claim (v.) 聲明；主張

例：The shipping company has claimed responsibility, so at least we won't have to fight anyone in court.

（貨運公司已經聲明要負責，所以至少我們不用在法庭上和別人抗辯。）

例：He claimed that we should invest all the money in the stocks.

（他主張我們應該要把所有的錢投資在股票。）

4. defect (n.) 缺失；缺點注

例：We'll focus our attention on the cameras that have manufacturing defects first.

（我們要先專注在有製造瑕疵的相機上。）

例：I found that there is more than one defect in the test system.

（我發現測試系統裡有超過不只一種的缺失。）

5. recall (v.) 回收；撤回

例：Maybe we'll have to have a recall if we receive too many complaints.

（如果我們收到太多抱怨，或許我們就該將產品回收。）

例：The company has announced a recall of all the imperfect products.

（那間公司已宣佈要回收所有瑕疵產品。）
