２００１年６月９日，珍妮佛推出第三首單曲［Im Real／我是真實的］

由洛佩茲，Troy Oliver，Cory Rooney，Leshan Lewis，Martin Denny      合寫

洛佩茲說「這是我第一次創作旋律。

我很喜歡這首歌的hook。我寫了它，所以它有點個人化。

Troy Oliver，Cory Rooney，L.E.S.製作成一首R&B／放克／舞曲，節奏強勁有力，

並取樣Yellow Magic Orchestra的歌曲［Firecracker］的循環。

原版受到音樂評論家的好評，他們稱讚其１９８０年代的風格和作曲以及取樣，

只是原版並不受到urban廣播電台歡迎．

Epic唱片知道他們需要urban和流行廣播電台的支持。

Rooney建議高層對這首歌進行混音，促使加入饒舌歌手 Ja Rule。

但Ja Rule不做舞曲，於是決定寫一首同名的新歌──即使最初他是被徵召重新混音［Im Real］

［Im Real (Murder Remix)］發行後引起相當大的爭議，由於兩個版本幾乎沒有相似處，並導致《告示牌》雜誌更改排行榜規則。

另外［Im Real］的原版和混音版都引起了爭議。

［Im Real］的原始版本是基於黃色魔法樂團的歌曲［Firecracker］的樣本，在引子和副歌中插入。

索尼的兼哥倫比亞唱片公司的掌門人Tommy Mottola是瑪麗亞凱莉前夫．當時她已經離開哥倫比亞唱片該。

Mottola在凱裡的音樂電影［Glitter］的預告片中聽到了［Firecracker］的採樣。

根據 The Inc. 的 Irv Gotti 說法，Mottola知道凱利使用［Firecracker］樣本，試圖讓洛佩茲在她之前使用相同的樣本。

當《Firecracker》的音樂出版商受到質疑時，他們承認凱莉首先獲得樣本的使用許可，洛佩茲在Mottola的安排下於一個多月後簽署了該樣本。

醜聞發生後，凱莉無法使用該樣本。

據Gotti稱，莫托拉還聯繫了他，要求他創作一首額外的歌曲，聽起來與他製作的另一首［Glitter］專輯歌曲［If We］（Ja Rule 和Nate Dogg客串）一模一樣。

這首歌是［Im Real］的混音版本，
