１９８７年９月 ３８歲半的美國迪斯可女王唐娜桑瑪（Donna Summer）發行第十三張大碟〔All Systems Go〕 這是她與Geffen唱片最後一張片約 製作群包括Harold Faltermeyer，Peter Bunetta，Rick Chudacoff，Richard Perry，Keith Nelson，Jeff Lams與桑瑪． １９８６年，在桑瑪敦促下，David Geffen 聘請 Harold Faltermeyer 製作這張專輯。目標是提供強硬的FM 聲音…… 唐娜堅持認為這張專輯應該受到更強烈的 R&B 影響。 專輯完成後，Geffen聽到這些歌曲並喜歡它們，但他的執行團隊認為沒有足夠的歌曲可以被視為單曲。 他們希望Faltermeyer製作另一首歌，但他已經在從事其他配樂項目了…… 這首歌是［Dinner with Gershwin］，Richard Perry受聘與Brenda Russell一起製作這首歌。 Harold Faltermeyer驚訝的是，Geffen團隊中沒有人看到［Fascination］、［Voices Cryin Out］或［Thinkin Bout My Baby］作為單曲的潛力。

１９８８年，唱片公司在北美推出單曲［Fascination／迷戀］ 由Eddie Schwartz, David Tyson譜寫 Harold Faltermeyer製作成一首R&B／流行抒情曲 在輕柔的樂聲中，唐娜以溫婉的唱腔演繹. 只是大眾反應冷淡, ［Fascination／魅力］並未入榜.
