１９５２年出生於紐約　２００４年過世的蘿拉布蘭妮根（Laura Branigan）是８０年代紅極一時的歌手

擁有義大利與愛爾蘭血統　且具有四個高八度音

１９７０年代初期　蘿拉加入一個名為Meadow的樂團

１９７３年發行過一張失敗的專輯　

樂團解散後為別人合音

１９７９年與Atlantic唱片簽約

首支單曲在市場並不成功　原本打算推出的專輯也束之高閣

１９８２年３月　２９歲半的蘿拉發行首張大碟〔Branigan〕　由德國製作人Jack White主舵

第一主打［All Night with Me］只登上美國單曲榜＃６９

夏天推出第二主打〔Gloria／葛洛麗亞〕

原曲是義大利歌手Umberto Tozzi在１９７９年推出的歐洲暢銷曲

作者是Giancarlo Bigazzi與Tozzi　旋律討好

那年秋天英國作詞家Jonathan King將它改寫成英語詞

Umberto Tozzi現場表演並灌錄過

爾後Trevor Veitch又將其改成另一首英語詞

當籌備蘿拉的首張專輯時　製作人Jack White建議她灌錄第二個英語版

由Greg Mathieson編曲並兼共同製作

這是首流行搖滾　蘿拉說他們重寫部份歌詞　在義大利曲風中給予美國感

配上布蘭妮根企圖性, 戲劇味的詮釋　相當有魅力

果然〔Gloria〕以慢熟的速度　在年末得到美國流行榜亞軍四週　在Billboard Hot 100總共停留３６週　創下當時女藝人最高紀錄

並賣出百萬　拿到金唱片（現已追加白金唱片）

隔年讓蘿拉提名葛萊美最佳流行女歌手
