原曲是法國歌壇天后伊迪琵雅芙（Edith Piaf）在1950年出版的名曲［Hymne a l’amour／愛的禮讚］, 由Marguerite Monnot譜詞

英文有兩個版本, 其中英國作詞人Geoffrey Parsons改編成［If You Love Me（Really Love Me）］, １９５２年由英倫歌姬Vera Lynn先灌錄

至於雪莉的版本則是一首傳統流行抒情曲
