【NOW健康 編譯組／外電報導】孕育新生命是一件很開心的事，但許多準媽咪在懷孕期間，最害怕的就是孕吐，因為不時的噁心和嘔吐，會讓生活品質降低許多。最近發表在《Nutrients》（營養素雜誌）上的研究表示，益生菌可以改善懷孕期間的噁心、嘔吐和便秘等症狀。

這個研究的主要作者婦產科教授Albert T. Liu指出，到目前為止，懷孕期間的噁心和嘔吐的原因尚不清楚，雖然已經提出了各種理論，但仍舊沒有一個確定的理論。懷孕期間的噁心、嘔吐和便秘，會影響孕婦的生活品質，一旦懷孕期間噁心和嘔吐變得更嚴重，甚至難以控制，有的時候甚至可能需要住院。

在懷孕期間，體內的雌激素和孕激素等激素的量會增加，進而帶來許多身體上的變化，這些激素的增加還會改變腸道微生物的狀態，可能會影響消化系統功能，並導致噁心、嘔吐和便秘等不適症狀。因此，研究人員開始研究補充益生菌是否對懷孕期間的胃腸功能有幫助。

該研究持續了16天，共有32名參與者，研究期間連續每日服用2次益生菌膠囊，持續6天後休息2天，之後重複這個循環。益生菌是非處方藥，主要含有乳酸菌，每個膠囊包含大約100億個活菌。

在研究期間內，每天對這些參與者的症狀進行17次的觀察，共有535次觀察結果，以供研究人員進行統計和評估。研究人員發現，服用益生菌可顯著減少噁心和嘔吐等狀況。

噁心時間（參與者感到噁心的小時數）減少了16%，嘔吐次數減少了33%。攝取益生菌還顯著改善了與生活品質相關的症狀，例如：疲勞、食慾不振和難以維持正常的社交活動等，益生菌同時也被發現可以顯著減少便秘的發生。
