Strife for representing China

In my previous writing "Up to 51/100 from Nothing: China's Olympic Games in Restropetive", I mentioned the hard way that China had travelled to Olympic from Los Angeles of 1932 through London of 1948 at http://blog.udn.com/kkuo0810/7145867.  Now how about the next one: Helsinki, Finland of 1952?

Then PRC was founded, and ROC fleed to Taiwan but still held the seats in IOC and UN, officially representing whole China.  You know, at that time PRC and Russia was in good rapport, and due to the special relation with Russia, Finland had to follow Russia's diplomatic arrangement.  Therefore, both sides of the strait were vehemently striving for the berth to board on the Olympic boat.  The story, being on tenterhooks, was vividly told like those intricate storylines of a dective novel in a report "新中国成立后首次参加奥运会的曲折经历" given at http://www.guancha.cn/EErJin/2016_08_06_370222.shtml.  Kindly suggest you read it at your leisure.

Now the dispute had long been settled: China for PRC and Chinese Taipei for ROC, but it's funny but true that ROC has had no intention at all to strive for representing China any longer.  If IOC, with the connivance from China, were to offer the name "Taiwan" in place of "Chinese Taipei" to ROC, I guess the island would have consented at once, nothing loath.  Well, that will be an impossible dream to dream of.
