In my previous writings I talked about the "borrowing" of translated terms and phrases several times.  Attached below is an essay written by some scholar, which also gives you a vivid and indepth demonstration on the issue, especially a concise clarification on the so-called mass migration of “new” terms from Japan to China in modern era.

Obviously, any language could be cross-fertilized through mutual borrowings, and Chinese is no exception.  Yet I hate to see there are still newly-importing Japanese Chinese used in either side of the strait, such as 達人,熟女,and so on.  Not just out of prejudice, I think right now we are not that voracious in borrowing new terms from Japan to quickly absorb Western knowledge as our grandfathers used to be.  With our own creativity, and the versatility of Chinese characters, we can coin whatever new terms all by ourselves.
