11/20/2017 1991年對這個45歲的英國歌手 Eric Clapton 來說，可能是最殘酷的一年。在1990年8月 Clapton 的經紀人因為空難過世了，7個月後的1991年，Clapton 4歲的兒子從紐約53層樓高的公寓窗戶外摔落到下面一個四層樓建築的屋頂。Clapton 因兒子意外的死亡，把自己與外界隔離了足足9個月，直到有一部電影 Rush 找他和 Will Jennings 幫忙寫音樂，他才開始工作。雖然是幫電影 Rush 寫的音樂，但事實上是在思念他的兒子，尤其是這首 Tears in Heaven 。音樂評論指出，他的曲風從這時開始變得較為柔和，但是更具力量與反思性。
