Honestly reciting the Buddha's name means reciting with our hearts as well as our mouths: moving or still, awake or asleep, we are mindful of Amitabha Buddha. We recite Amitabha Buddha's name with our mouths and practice Amitabha Buddha's conduct with our bodies. What conduct? Well, for example, now we are holding this Buddha Recitation Session. No matter how busy we are, we have put down everything in order to attend this session and recite until we are single-minded and unconfused. Single-minded and unconfused means to recite in thought. It doesn't mean that you recite for a while and then feel tired and want to go back to rest and take a break. If you're like that, you won't attain the Buddha Recitation Samadhi because you aren't being honest in your recitation. To recite honestly means to recite wholeheartedly. |
