The smile that made my day

Today, just like any of my Friday, is a busy day. I made three conference calls starting from 6:00am, followed by couple recruiting calls, then Ethan's school's parents' conference. I had to rush from school to office for my lunch meeting. The drive was all right, with my routine radio listening pattern, KKIQ 101.7 when I was in the tri-valley, and KOIT 96.5 after I got into Silicon Valley. Love KKIQ because it is the HOMETOWN radio station, with above average music.  Love those musics from KOIT, the lite rock, less talk station.  Those songs just let me think how rich my life has been with all the familiar songs.  Madonna's "La Isla Bonita", Bruce Springsteen's "I'm on fire", Whitney Houston's "I will always love you", Samantha Sang's "Emotion", Selena "Dreaming of you" Rob Stewart's Some Guyts Have All the Luck" two other songs that I couldn't remember from who, "Complicated" and "Always and Forever",  accompanied me all the way to San  Jose.

Comlicated is a great song, performed by a rock style female artist. Amazingly young voice, with awkward words put together in her song, her strength went with her easy listening voice made my spirit much lighter, especially after the little screamming of Ethan right before I left home. The lyric reflects a great different kinds of feelings. I would love to know who she is.

So the mood was lighter, but the need for hurry was still there. Driving 80 mph all the way, getting off the freeway, cruising into North Valley, clock was ticking. When I made my last right turn into the office, I knew I have enough time.  My mind completely eased up.  The light was green when I got to the cross section.  One young lady was strolling across the street toward me. She had that little apple on her hand, took one small bite at a time. It was such a great contrast between the green apple and her dark skin.  I could have just cut in front of her, of course violating the right of road of California driving law but still could be safe. I, as I usually like to do, followed the law. Just few seconds, my boss won't mind if I were late.  The lady was still so focused on her apple, took a step after a step, chewing the apple slowly. My mind was still on the radio with "Complicated". I was in no hurry any more. The song continued, and I had decided to finish this song no matter what befor I shut down the engine:

---Uh-huh, Life's like this Uh-huh, uh-huh That's the way it is

'Cause life's like this Uh-huh, uh-huh That's the way it is ...............................

I like you the way you are When we're, driving in my car And you're talking to me One on one But you become ---------

When the lady noticed that I have been waiting for her to cross the street, she paced up a little bit, not a hell lot, but she did try. I waited until she completely step on the curb, took a few more steps. Then I let go my brake. She had that appreciation, guilty, embarrassing, funny smile on her face when our eyes contacted. My car slided forward, and she was still looking at me. It was an interesting encounter. When I parked the car, the song was almost finished:

---Life's like this, you

And you fall and you crawl

And you break and you take

What you get and you turn it into Honesty

Promise me I'm never gonna find you fake it Fake, why bother. ----

Yes, the most beautiful thing is the genuine in everyone's heart.

Cut off

$270.  Next time, I have to be careful.  I don't know, depend on where she  is.  She was like 30ft away from me, hasn't even left the curb.  Most people behind me would probably honk on me since she took a good one minute to cross the street. Fortunately, there was no one behind me. That could have killed the fun.

Picture this: The light just turned green when I reached the cross section. She was facing me, and just about to walk toward my end of the street. It was a small street,  and with cute young girl singing on the radio I wouldn't mind to wait.   If it were a bigger street, with island between lanes, no doubt I would have made the turn.

To cut in front of a pedestrian will cost you $270.  No, I've never done that.  I just heard.
