SCENE 1 All Fun, fun, fun. Acrostic poems are fun. Fun, fun, fun. Let’s have fun. All Good morning, everyone. Do you love poems? Have you ever made your own poems? Today, we are going to show you something about acrostic poems. Narrator :Shiney Poems are as beautiful as songs. Oh, everyone was a born poet if he dares to try his. Enjoy creating your own acrostic poems with initial letters. Make acrostic poems now and have fun with us. Justin is standing on the street with his head in his hands. Joy and her friends slowly approach him. Student 2 :Joy What’s wrong, Justin? Students 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 Justin, what’s wrong? What should we do? Justin, be strong. We can help you. (chant) Student 1 :Justin Oh, my teacher wants me to write a poem for my English class, but it is so difficult to write a poem and I am not creative! [Sigh!] Student 2 :Joy (Rubbing her chin) Hmm…Have you ever heard of an acrostic poem? Student 1 :Justin A what poem? Student 2 :Joy An acrostic poem. Student 1,3, 4, 5,6, 7 What is an “Acrostic poem”? Student 2 :Joy It’s a poem. You spell each letter of the target word vertically in order to describe the word with each initial letter. Student 1 :Justin I don’t get it. Student 5, 6, 7 We don’t get it, either. Student 1,3, 4, Can you give us an example? Student 2 :Joy Sure! Give me a word first. Student 1 :Justin How about “Dog”? Student 2 :Joy O.K. Spell the word, please. Student 1,3, 4,5, 6 ,7 D-O-G. Student 2 :Joy D is for “Dogs”. Dogs are my favorite animal. O is for “Oh”. Oh, how I love them all! G is for “Good”. Good dog, let’s go play baseball. Student 1,3, 4, Wow! You are so amazing. Student 5, 6, 7 Making an acrostic poem is so interesting, Student 2 :Joy You all can try to make your own acrostic poems. Student 1 :Justin Let me try one. Give me a word, please. Student 5: Vincent How about the word, “Hot”? H-O-T. Student 1 :Justin O.K. Let me think. Oh, yeah. Here it comes. H is for “Hot”. Hot, hot. It’s so hot. O is for “Oh”. Oh, look! Hot water is in the pot. T is for “Tea”. Tea, please. Thanks a lot. Student 3, 4 You are such a genius. Student 5,6, 7 You are such a talented poet. Student 1 :Justin Thanks for all your compliments. I am soooooooooo happy. Student 3, 4, Do you want to make your own poem? Student 5,6, 7 It is your turn to try one. All Now it’s your turn. Don’t ask us why. It’s time to learn. Give it a try. (chant) SCENE 2 Narrator: Shiney Students are all smart and creative. They like to challenge themselves with more interactive acrostic poems. Student 3,4 How about something more interactive? Student 1,2, 5, 6, 7 What do you mean? Student 3, 4 We use an acrostic poem to make a riddle and you guys guess. Are you ready to give it a try? Student 1,2, 5, 6, 7 Come on! Try us! Student 3 :Shayanne An animal which is very small likes to carry things. Student 4 :Anakin None of us notices them and we hurt them by stepping on them. Student 3, 4 They live in groups. Student 6 :Melody I know the answer to the riddle. Student 7: Elaine Me, too. Student 5: Vincent Let’s count 123 and you two shout the answer together. All Good idea. One…Two….Three Student 6, 7 It’s an “Ant.” Student 3, 4 Bingo. You guys guessed it right. SCENE 3 Narrator: Shiney Later on, students would like to use chants and songs to present acrostic poems with their creativity. Student 6 :Melody Why not try an acrostic poem relay? Student 1, 2,3 ,4, Relay? Sounds challenging. Student 6 :Melody Let’s start with a 2-letter word, “Do.” D-O. I go first with “D.” “Do, do your homework now.” says Mom. All Put away your comic books. Please turn off that TV show. Don’t log on to your facebook. There are things you need to do. (Chant) Student 6 :Melody Your turn, “O.” Student 3 ,4,5, 7 “Oh, no!! Oh, no, Mommy! Five more minutes! One more minute.” (Chant) All Hahaha~~~No one likes to do homework. Student 6 :Melody Let’s try a 3-letter word. How about “Why?” W-H-Y. Student 7: Elaine Can we make it a little different? Student 1, 2, 3, 4 How different? Student 5: Vincent Let’s sing. Student 1, 2, 3, 4, Good idea. Student 5: Vincent I start with “W”. Why, why, tell me why? ( Singing) (song) Student 4 :Anakin Let me try “H.” Hey!! Lucy, 整個禮拜的運動怎樣來安排,(要聽我都講給你知!) (Singing in Taiwanese) (song) Student 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 Hey! You are cheating. Student 4 :Anakin No, I am not. I start with “H”, “Hey!” No one made the rules of singing English songs only. Student 3 :Shayanne O.K. Let me try “Y’. Yipiya ya yipi yipi ya~ (song) All Yipiya ya yipi yipi ya ( Singing Malaysian song) (song) Student 5: Vincent Hey, guys. How about making an acrostic poem together with the word, “Tainan”? All That’s a great idea. SCENE 4 Narrator: Shiney Tainan is Taiwan’s cultural capital and has a long history. All the students are proud to grow and learn in Tainan. They are going to create an acrostic poem with the word, “ Tainan.” Student 3, 4 T~ Tainan is the oldest city in Taiwan. Student 1 :Justin A~ A good place, Tainan, is filled with energy. Student 5 : Vincent I~I love Tainan because of its delicious snacks. Student 2: Joy N~Nice people in Tainan are just like the warm sun. Student 6: Melody A~A special city, Tainan, is full of magic. Student 7: Elaine N~Number one! All Number one! Tainan is the number one city in Taiwan.. Student 1 :Justin Wow! Thanks for giving me ideas for writing acrostic poems.
