船長啊，我的船長

2006年，美國的總統節（President‘s Day，每年二月的第三個星期一)，美國公共語音圖書舘(LibriVox)為了紀念林肯總統，特別請來一十三位有語音天份的播音員將美國詩人懷特曼（Walt Whitman）膾炙人口的那首《船長啊，我的船長》（O Captain! My Captain!）一詩，各別朗誦一遍。

一十三位，男聲女調，各自有各的讀法，各自有各的感情，聽來卻不覺煩膩，甚有其趣味性。

此詩記念林肯總統，詩中所說船長即是林肯，船暗喻為美國聯邦政府，船將泊港則指內戰結束，和平到來。

不揣謭陋，再次試譯該詩如下：

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weatherd every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,

船長啊，我的船長，令人心懼的航程終於結束，
您的船受了無數的驚濤駭浪，但我們共尋的榮光已經獲得。
港泊就在前面，我耳聞鐘鳴，人群全在歡呼欣迎，

While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

目視著我們沉穩前來，船顕著嚴武勇敢。
但是，哎喲我的心，心啊！
流著紅色的血滴。
船甲板上我的船長躺著
倒在那裡死了，冷去。

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills;
For you bouquets and ribbond wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;

船長啊，我的船長，起來，聽聽這鐘鳴，
起來，一一旗子是為你招展一一號角是為你吹響
為了你，有無數的花束和彩帶装飾的花圈
為了你，岸邊擠満人群
為了你，騷動人們底面孔殷切地轉動

Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head;
It is some dream that on the deck,
Youve fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;

船長，這裡，我的父親，
你的頭顱下是我的手臂；
這是甲板上的一埸莫來由的夢，
你竟然倒下死了，冷去。

我的船長一點不回答，他的唇蒼白僵硬，
我的父親不覺出我的手臂，他沒有脈搏亦無感覺。

The ship is anchord safe and sound,
its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won;

這船安全妥當拋錨泊港，
她的航程已走完結束；
從令人心驚的旅途歸來，這勝利的船舶携回了成功果實；

Exult, O shores, and ring, O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

歡呼聲，哎呀，岸邊還雜了音樂和鐘鳴！
但是我哀傷的步子，
踱躞在我的船長趟著的甲板上，
他倒在那裡死了，氷涼。
