常常看到的　寧靜禱告 Serenity Prayer

是美國清教徒神學家瑞合尼伯( Reinhold Niebuhr) 在1943 年寫的一個禱告詞.  當時正值世界二次大戰初期, 這個禱告詞被印成單張, 發送在軍隊中.  

但是這個禱告詞的廣泛運用是被用在"屬靈重建" 匿名互助團體
(Spiritual Recovery Support Group) 聚會中的結束禱告.   這個"屬靈重建"互助團體, 是幫助從各樣上癮的問題中（如酗酒, 家暴, 色情, 吸毒, 賭搏....  重建個人的生活秩序, 在美國和世界各地都有類似這樣的匿名互助團體.  

在電影中也常常看到,  一小群有同樣問題的人固定聚在一起, 分享彼此共同的問題, 面對的爭扎, 和得勝的經歷.  互相關懷鼓勵, 勝過困難.

God, give us Grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, Courage to change the things which should be changed, and the Wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.

神啊, 求祢施恩於我, 讓我能以一顆寧靜的心, 接受自己無法改變的事情,
有勇氣, 去改變自己該改變的事情, 有智慧分辨這二者的不同.

匿名互助會的結束禱告: (稍微不同） 

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
                          courage to change the things I can, 
                         and the wisdom to know the difference.

神啊, 求祢賜我寧靜接受我無法改變的事情,
                  賜我勇氣去改變我能變的事情,
                  賜我智慧分辨這二者的不同.


延伸版
最近有機會去參加馬鞍山的歡慶更新聚會(Celebrate Recovery), 他們使用的是延伸版, 我覺得很棒!   除了上面常見的三句話外另加了幾句:

 寧靜禱告 Serenity Prayer 

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
神啊, 求祢賜我寧靜接受我無法改變的事情,

courage to change the things I can, 
賜我勇氣去改變我能變的事情, 

and the wisdom to know the difference.
賜我智慧知道這二者的不同. 

Living one day at a time, 
一天一天的過日子 

Enjoying one moment at a time,
享受生命的每分每刻
 
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
接納艱苦是通往平安之路, 

Taking, as Jesus did, 
效法耶穌, 一如祂那樣

This sinful world as it is, Not as I would have it,
接納這罪孽深重的世界的本相,而非自己所期望那個世界

Trusting that You will make all things right,
堅信祢必會把一切恢復美好

If I surrender to Your will,
若我順服祢旨意,

So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
好叫我此生能適當地快樂

And supremely happy with You forever in the next.
並在來生得享與祢永聚的極樂
