這首" Weve Only Just Begun "是木匠兄妹
第三支在排行榜上榜的歌曲，最高曾達亞座，
(之前的"(They Long to Be) Close to You“
與“Top Of The World"則分別奪冠)。
這支歌原本是1970年一所銀行為吸引新婚夫婦的廣告短曲，
木匠兄妹（Carpenters）的哥哥Richard聽了之後，
請原唱者把短曲擴充，並加間奏，乃成今日的歌曲。

木匠兄妹（Carpenters）的哥哥Richard和妹妹Karen，
都出生在美https://blog.udn.com/mushiner國新格蘭康州的New Haven（耶魯大學所在地），
哥哥出生在1946年，妹妹則是1950 年。
1963年木匠兄妹全家遷居至洛杉磯。
1964年Richard進入加州州立大學長提分校，
彈鋼琴的Richard在那裡認識了John Bettis，
以及後來樂團的幾位主要人物。
這年Karen進入Downey高中就讀，愛上了打擊樂器。
1966年兄妹兩人以及友人Wes Jacobs組成The Richard Carpenter Trio，
在當年的好萊塢的音樂比賽中脫穎而出。
同年妹妹被唱片公司挖掘，灌錄了單張唱片，
雖然沒有走紅，但是兄妹的音樂生涯已經開始。

1969年A&M唱片公司與兄妹簽約，
木匠兄妹（Carpenters）正式成軍，
隔年，"(They Long to Be) Close to You"
即為他們奪下第一個金榜。
木匠兄妹的音樂生涯長達十數年，
一直到1984年妹妹病逝為止，
在世界上的軟搖滾樂迷心中，留下永不磨滅的印象。
