For a few years I was traveling all over the world, having no time for friends, family, or even for myself. I stayed in 5-star hotels and enjoyed the best meals. But somehow I still felt something missing. But don’t get me wrong. I did have tones of fun!

In September 2004, I stayed in the hotel in this picture. The hotel is right by the River Thames. My room had a nice view and from the window, I could see the Big Ben from across the river. (I was getting upgrades to essentially all hotel stays as I soon accumulated enough points to have platinum, diamond or executive status with many hotel chains.)

As you can see from the picture, the building itself was pretty big. Other than the hotel, the same big building also hosted a museum, some city hall offices, and an aquarium.

The hotel is right next to the London Eye. I never went up to the London Eye but did walk pass it quite often.

(Bottom Picture – Big Ben)

This picture was taken just a few steps outside of the hote. My colleague and I were walking across the bridge to the Waterloo Train Station. From the train station, you could get on the Euro Start (a fast train) to Paris!
