摩門先知因「詐欺」被英國法庭傳喚

一名前英國支聯會主教(Tom Phillips)和二名前英國主教(Stephen Bloor and Christopher Ralph)在英國指控耶穌基督後期聖徒教會,利用虛假教導(列舉7點,見下圖)騙取十一奉獻，這違犯英國「2006年詐欺法」(Fraud Act of 2006)。於是，英國地方法院法官 Elizabeth Roscoe傳喚耶穌基督後期聖徒教會的多馬‧孟蓀先知會長於2014年3月14日到英國地院說明耶穌基督後期聖徒教會的教導是否涉及詐欺。

   這則新聞昨天在今日美國刊出後, 今天已有超過25個媒體轉載。

    這件事大概會無疾而終，畢竟耶穌基督後期聖徒教會總部僱了超過150位律師。但這對摩門教內部發生了影響。就在傳票發出的同時，耶穌基督後期聖徒教會網站發佈了新教義說明 (這對老教友的智能和記憶是很大的考驗!):

其內有一段有趣的話:" the primary purpose of the Book of Mormon is more spiritual than historical, "摩門經主要目的是(提供世人)靈性的而非歷史的(記錄)。

    英國地方法院傳喚多馬‧孟蓀會長說明耶穌基督後期聖徒教會是否如此教導的內容如下:

I.     亞伯拉罕書是斯密約瑟從埃及紙草紙直譯過來的。

II.     摩爾門經是斯密約瑟從古代金葉片翻譯的而且是全世界最正確的一本書也是一本古代歷史的真實記錄。

III.   美洲印地安人的祖先來自於西元前600年離開耶路撒冷的以色列家族。

IV.     斯密約瑟和斯密海侖在1844年的殉教是因為他們拒絕否認對摩爾門經的見證。

V.      美國伊利諾州的一份報紙納府解說者被搗毀是因為它報導有關斯密約瑟不實的消息。

VI.     6000年前這個地球沒有死亡。

VII.   所有現在的人類都是緣自6000年前的二位祖先。

(第VI, VII點已不見於現在的摩門教義; 只是以前教導過!)

多馬‧孟蓀會長會像先知一樣站在法官面前悍衛他的教會所教導過的真理嗎?顯然不會!
