You also need skis, poles, boots, and warm clothes. In north America and Europe, children start to ski when they are very young. They start to learn when they are just three or four years old. But everyone can learn to ski. Many people don’t start to learn until they are adults. There are several kinds of skiing. Most people enjoy either down-hill skiing or cross-country skiing. In down hill skiing, people ride up to the top of the mountain on the ski lift. Then they follow a ski trail called a run down to the bottom of the mountain. The ski runs can be easy or difficult. The more difficult ones are quite steep. For cross-country skiing, there are trails that go up and down small hills. You get more exercise when you cross country ski.
