通過兒女對母親生育、教養等各自情感的對比——「愛我，是您對我一生的承諾；愛我，是我對您唯一的索求」，整首歌用真情悼念了母愛的偉大，「您需要我時，我一定會守在您身旁；漆黑的夜晚，我會做您的照明燈；狂風暴雨中，我會成為您的庇護港灣……」道出對母親反哺感恩的承諾。
