If you are a sports fan, you may have heard of 池江璃花子, the young, good-looking Japanese woman swimmer who has dominated Asian pool in the items of short and medium range since last Asian Game.  Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with leukemia now and was forced to discontinue her training, which is mostly for Tokyo 2020.  I hope she could get well soon and return to the pool.

Some responses to the news focused on the possibllity if the nuclear radiation out of Fukushima of 2011 has contaminated the water, food in some areas of Japan which has become a latent defects that threated the health of Japanese people, and 池江 might be one of the victims.  A suspect hypothesis, but it might be true.  In last referemdums accompaning mid-term election, people of Taiwan have already rejected the proposal of importing Jap food from Fukushima and its adjacent areas.  DPP administration, you have to dispel any fear and suspicion from islanders about their health. 

PS  At least three alumnae of mine, whom I knew in college, died young of that dreadful disease: leukemia.
