Mr Jiang passed away yesterday at 86. He had long been a technical bureaucrat of KMT, but he did contribute a great deal to cross-fertilization between China Mainland and China Taiwan. Though more close contacts brought more alienation from islanders, it was not his fault. Blame it on that unthankful and cowardly US puppet: Bumbler Ma. Same as I have always called upon that Taiwan should let CCTV international channels in, Mr Jiang had raised similar appeal, too. You know, the channel could give islanders broader view, with perfect English translation as subtitles, on the events happened globally everyday, and thus help those frogs in the bottom of wells jump up to see other sides of the world; furthermore, its contents has little to do with the issue of "unification or independence". (It would be better if also let in CCTV 5, the sports channel.) Rest in peace, Mr Jiang. |
