Not long ago "Jian Jie" became an officially recognized pronounciation for "尷尬" in Taiwan, being compatibly coexisting with the tranditional one "Gan Ga". Obviously, it reflected a cultural backwardness. Attached below is a list of Chinese idioms of which most of us would not read them correctly. (It is said the idioms are all but of high school level in Mainland.)http://www.toutiao.com/a6440046474007986434/
I know all of those idioms, but due to lack of daily use with them it neccessitates my thinking twice before I can pronounce them correctly. Nevertheless, being out of practice or not familiar with those words cant be an excuse for not pronouciating them correctly and so assuming the wrong pronounciation as a matter of course.
