泰戈爾的甘露 -1  旅程             2008.8.6 

“旅途是這樣漫長

行程又這樣遙遠

我乘第一道曙光車輦出發

奔逐征途

遍行廣漠十方

在繁星之間留下了腳跡

那最長遠的旅程

最終原來至接近自己

那最繁難的歷煉

原來引到一個單純的調子

旅客須叩遍每一道外面的門

方至返回自己的家

須浪跡踏遍了世界

方才抵達內裡至深的聖地 "

許多年前，在臺大對面書店，穫得小贈書簽，長條的，白底草綠色橫排小字，四邊邊盡處框着闊條的同色草綠，雅緻極了。詩，是泰戈爾的，內容給我小小驚喜！( 這裡重譯，因為小書簽一時找不着了。)

那時尚年輕，總然尋尋覓覓，飄飄泊泊的心，無處落腳；讀這小詩，特別有感。

但是，終點尋啊尋啊！我的心哪，何其愚昧！

許多年之後，捧着泰戈爾的《頌歌集》Song Offerings by R.Tagore，才讀完它的後段：

“我的眼眸漂泊廣袤

直到閉目哦然：’呀，原來祢在這裡！’

曾經的問號與呼喊：’在哪在哪？’

立即化成千泉淚水

整個世界──

洪水般肯定：’我在這裡！’ “

到底詩人的”祢” “我”指謂誰？是對話中的”祢”── 超越界的終極者？還是自言自語，自己和內在的自己對話？

想，讀者各有不同的領受。讀全本詩集，看得出應是前者；但若堅持詩中領悟全為”象徵”意味，那就是後者了。

不過，泰戈爾在另一首詩有很明白露意的句子：

“ Drunk with the joy of singing             

        I forget myself and call thee friend who art  My Lord. “

另一首有這一段：

“ Thus it is that thy joy in me is so full.

Thus it is that thou hast come down to me

O thou lord of all heavens,

where would be thy love if I were not? “

那來自超越界的神祕扶持、安慰與陪伴，是很明顯的了。

小詩是甘露晶瑩，且來再讀一讀：

“The time that my journey takes is long

and the way of it long.

I came out on the chariot of the first gleam of light,

and pursued my voyage

through the wilderness of worlds

leaving my track on many a star and planet.

It is the most distant course

that comes nearest to thyself,

and that training is the most intricate

which leads to the utter simplicity of a tune.

The traveller has to knock at every alien door

to come to his own,

and one has to wonder through all the outer worlds

to reach the intermost shrine at the end.

My eyes strayed far and wide

before I shut them and said "Here art thou!"

The question and the cry "oh, where?"

melt into tears of a thousand streams

and deluge the world

with the flood of the assurance "I am!"
