Chinghsing Kuo, beloved husband, father, a doting grandfather and great grand father, was born 1/3/17 in Hubei, China and passed away 2/17/11 at the age of 94. Chinghsing showed great academic ability, particularly in math, early on when he finished his entire elementary and junior high school courses in 4 years. He graduated from the National Northwest Institute of Technology in Chengu, Shaanxi Province , a consortium of universities evacuated from war zones during China's war against Japan, and received a BS degree in Textile Engineering. After graduation, he taught at the National Lanzhou University Associated High School and met the love of his life, Yenyin, who was a Lanzhou University student majoring in Bank Accounting. They were married in Lanzhou in 1944 and had their first born son Dinguo thereafter. In 1949, he moved his family of 3 to Taiwan thanks to his brother Sosung Kuo, a high-ranking air force general during that chaotic time, and settled there for the next 36 years. Daughters Jialing, Jialie and son Dingjung were born in Taiwan.
Chinghsing first taught at the Provincial Jia Yi girls' high school from 1949 to 1955. At age 38, he became the youngest dean of the Textile Engineering Department of Industrial College, today's Taipei University of Technology. Chinghsing had been a leading engineer at Taiwan’s most prominent textile manufacturer and played a critical role in enhancing Taiwan’s rudimentary textile industry at that time. He’d been a fantastic educator and lecturer at several Industrial Colleges and a member of the Examination Board, Yuan of Examination. His students were all over the island and he enjoyed visits from former students and colleagues at all times. Chinghsing immigrated to Los Angeles, California in 1985 and lived in retirement with Yenyin and Dingjung’s family until his death in Temple City, California. Chinghsing was the image of a stern father to his children. In his later years, his passionate and generous nature brought him ever closer to his family. He attracted people young and old that he came in contact with, who loved him dearly and respected him. While celebrating his long and full life on earth, his family and friends will remember him lovingly forever. Chinghsing was survived by his wife of 67 years, Yenyin; sister-in-law Yozhan; sons Dinguo (Tim), spouse Aline, of Texas; Dingjung, spouse Lin Fang, of CA; nephews Dingchan, spouse Jeizu; Dingdeh; daughters Jialing , spouse Iyu Mo; Jialie (Kelly), spouse Steve Janda; nieces Lanjen; Lanyu, spouse Zhohan Tzeng; grandson Kevin Kuo, spouse Julia; Daniel Kuo ; Andy Hsu, spouse Gaby; Allen Hsu, spouse Mindy; grand daughter Sindy, spouse Carlton Lane; great grand sons Nickolas Hsu, Joshua Kuo, Ashton Lane and great grand daughter Amelie. |
