The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express operated by The Railway Touring Company ran from Manchester Victoria over Shap and back to Manchester via the Settle and Carlisle line with 44871 and 45407 doing the honours . The fives are first seen at Cleverley Bank Lane near Forton sporting the headboard titled "The Midlander " and then on the climb to Shap Summit at Salterwath in deep snow after the water stop at Carnforth. We then move onto the S&C at Cotehill again in the snow and finally Birkitt Common . Thanks to all involved that made this tour happen .The 47 on the rear was 47854 Diamond Jubilee .The driver on 44871 on the return leg was Gordon Hodgson and the fireman was Rob Hawkins.Forgot to counter balance the tripod with weights to stop the wobbles in the wind DOH.
