BS 7000-2:2008 Design management systems. Guide to managing the design of manufactured products Excellence in design is an important differentiating factor between competing products, and can be the key to company survival in increasingly competitive world markets. Creating and delivering excellent products requires an integrated approach to design, from the board of an organization to project managers and their multi-disciplinary teams. BS 7000-2 is intended for use by those operating in the consumer and industrial product sectors of industry. It gives guidance on managing the design of all types of manufactured products, and deals with every stage of the process from product concept through to delivery, use and ultimate disposal. It addresses all levels of management, in all types of organizations involved in design. BS 7000-2 sets out the tasks and responsibilities for creating and implementing an effective design policy. In large organizations, these tasks and responsibilities are usually taken on by different individuals or groups.
