Donna Donna https://clyp.it/f3zwnerm?token=6d99d7a320635be4f417e2f9ce8cbacf Today https://clyp.it/5gemmdgp On busy days filled with nothing but tasks and responsibilities, one can easily forget taking a pause to see life, to smell roses, and that’s how I felt in the last couple months– I was not living; I was passing days by. But, last night, as I was coming home after a long meeting for planning a future concert, music and songs span in my mind at the pace of my running wheels. Because the music selections we have discussed were songs that opened a new musical era of Taiwan, fondly referred as College Folk Songs. They were the voices of my generation in searching for identities of our very own. They were not merely songs but represented a time that we shone the sparkles of young life. However, before we found our own voices then, the two old English songs I sang here were, perhaps, what many of my generation would recognize with great familiarity, because they were always in guitar books we played. Posting them here, I am recording the footprints of my life. I am sure that my voice no longer had the innocent flair of a high school girl, but my now more slightly hoarse voice reads through the lyrics with more understanding as I have collected thousands of days of memory in life. |
