《哈比人：荒谷惡龍 The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug》是2013年底娛樂大片，《魔戒》系列的前傳續集，大導彼得傑克森執導冒險故事依舊功力非凡，2小時40分的片長不至於冷場，至少比起《哈比人》第一集好看，而場面調度、動作設計相當精彩，尤其是主角一行人逃過木精靈追捕，及最後合力對付惡龍史矛革時，讓人看得目不轉睛。雖然加入原著中沒有的女精靈角色，與勒苟拉斯、矮人間的三角戀來添加愛情元素，但還是比不上《魔戒》中精靈公主與亞拉岡之間的雋永愛情。不過，英劇《福爾摩斯》兩位主角一同演出本片，還真有話題性，讓人不斷出戲。
